your team than you are not a powerhouse nor recruiting that well. Edited to make it clear here since many of you fail to read the rest of the post that I am talking about 2 years later not immediately.

I am tired of people claiming RP is the reason our offense has struggled. I am not talking about the team's record here. Obviously, going 9-3 this season is not the end of the world and was a success to many. It's obviously not the failure many make it out to be.

Last year was bad given the expectations and returning talent and the failure that was our defense.

My point, however, is that even with the loss of RP, our offense going to utter crap this year and having the horrible turnover issues the year before isn't on RP. It all goes back to two things: recruiting and position coaching. An ELITE program doesn't have these types of issues. PERIOD for 2 straight years.

That said, hopefully next year we'll see some improvement but RP is not an excuse for total ineptness on offense this season.

What quality quarterback is going to come to school if he has to sit behind Russell, Flynn, and Perilloux?

No, of course he isn't the only reason and only factor to blame for bad play by the offense. But he was still supposed to be the starting QB this year, so yes his dismissal is a factor.

Next year is the first time in three years that we will be starting the QB we planned to start. No excuses next year.

But flat out denial that the RP effect hasn't been felt the past two years is nonsense.

Last year we ran the ball much better, scored more points also. Our o line was much better and we had a fullback. We had a pick six young qb behind center. Meaning we did good despite the problems that lee had at qb. This yr the line play was down, and no fullback in the backfield. Plus Crowton decided to play scared with his offense after what happened last yr. The point is without the o line and fullback, and the enigma that is Crowton, we did not produce as well as we could. You cannot blame it all on RP I agree, but there is more to it then the qb position.

Ask Pete Carroll and Bob Stoops about first year QBs.

I think last year it was a BIG factor. This year the big factor is lack of an offensive philosophy (unless you think random play calling is a philosophy) and an oline that gets manhandled.

Thats it in a nutshell for me.

who cares what you are tired of. it's a fact; the QB is the most important position on the team. ask pete carol.
