Notre Dame seems to be stretching this out and ...

...that tells me one thing. They are after Saban or meyer.

They will make them say "no" before going after the easy targets.

Brian Kelly is the back up plan. Sad to say for Notre Dame, they may be forced to go to choice number 3 again. They are after a big name, not sure its Meyer or Saban.....could very well be an NFL guy.

I think you are trying to stir up more shite.

Will not be a NFL guy. Period. And this is just how long it takes. ND isn't a good enough job to just jump at them. They are having to wait till seasons end before coaches will even talk to them, just like any normal middle of the road school. It will come in the next week or two, and no one on this board knows who or when

I think they're gunning for Meyer. Maybe his hospital stay gave them a delay. I doubt Saban goes anywhere for now.
But when JoePa retires, Penn State will be calling him.

Meyer losing and not going to the NC game makes it much easier for Notre Dame to get Meyer.

If Saban ever coaches anywhere else, I will be shocked. The dude can't be happy with his reputation as a hopper.

Why do people keep saying this? Penn St. is lining up Schiano or Golden anyway

I just got off the phone with em and told em no thanks.

Why would not try to offer these 2 guys. It would be stupid if N.D. offered anyone else first.

If Notre Dame cares about their football team, they will allow a few partial qualifiers. I think they could have had Urban Meyer in 2005, but they wouldn't give him the partials. Lou Holtz got em, and he won. Nobody else has gotten them since, and nobody else has won.
All the big name coaches know this, and won't come to Notre Dame without the academic help.

Beg to differ. Most coaching changes are made before bowl season. ND didn't fire Wiess without having some idea of who they were after. ND, with what it can offer is no "middle of the road school." Its still and will be the premiere coaching job in college football. ND is still (or was a year ago) worth more financially (the football program) than any other in the country. They have already been in touch with appropriate agents.

Isn't it true that Penn State is Saban's dream job?
Posted on 12/7/09 at 1:20 pm to BamaScoop
i've been thinking they are after saban hard an heavy. the reason is becuase his name hasn't been mentioned much and bob stoops was used as a decoy

do you honestly think Nick Saban gives a frick what his "reputation" is. the guy is a grade A, first class prick. he cares about winning and money, not what people think of him.

I think Penn State is where Saban ends up - he just seems like a good fit there. And although the coaching gig at Bama is a good one, he and his family just hate living in Gumpville.
