Stayed til the final fg missed by arky in OT. But several fans around me left in 3rd qtr. Even more left when ark took lead in 4th.

Fans leaving early is like obama winning last year...unfortunate but at this point what r u going to do about it?

Part of the problem is the smoking nazis. I know several season ticket holders who used to stay the entire game but now leave early because there is no where to smoke and stay in the game.

It is pretty ridiculous to not provide a gated "smoking area" or something. The Superdome does it for Saints games no problem you would think LSU could handle something like this with the 1000's of ushers standing around.

you wont see a empty seat in the superdome tonight unless the saints are down by 50 or up by 50.

They showed one area where some fans left. Everyone there said it was packed to the end.

Why did ESPN have to even mention this? maybe most of them got sick of not having their beverage of choice left in the stadium with them?

I don't think that any more than 10%, and prob. much less, of the people in the SEndzone were gone at the end...

and again, the student section was packed out the whole time...

I noticed the yellow seats on TV right before Blackledge commented on it - after a punt. It was glaringly obvious. I thought maybe the rain chased the whole section away. Here's my take on what happened. The rich fans knew what the outcome against Arkansas would be with a big lead. THE HOGS ALWAYS COME BACK against Tigers!!! The LSU playcalling, penalties, begged for a comeback. Also, I noticed Blackledge going WAY out of his way to support Miles and Crowton with video and interviews. Why does ESPN want to keep them around is my question? Maybe Rece Davis thinks Miles is good for TV? I wonder what Erin Andrews thinks of having to ask Miles questions with the wheel-churning bland responses she gets.

OK what are legitimate reasons to leave a game early?

a you or other family member sick- yes
b young family member falls asleep- yes

Any other legitimate reasons for leaving?

If LSU football is somewhat related to forms other entertainment- who on this board has left an important movie halfway through the movie?

The TRUE LSU fans can be found in the ENDZONE seats! Always packed, always loud... I was sitting mid-lower bowl 10 yard line and ladies behind me kept asking me to sit down.

So lame these days.

Agree 100%. Social event only, place to be seen on Saturday night in B R. Yuppies with their trophy wives and girlfriends who come to the game and spend the entire time on their cell phones, sit on their hands and are usually gone by the beginning of the 4th quarter. Got to beat the traffic you know. Death Valley is not the intimidating place it used to be. As long as it gets more and more to be only about the money, its going to get worse. I guess we'll eventually get to be like Ole Miss and have crystal and silver candlesticks at our tailgates.

This so-called money you bitch about is the reason why LSU's program is at its current elite status.

Like I always say - YOU PAY for the product, you use it as you wish!! No one can say "you bought an apple pie, and threw half of it away" It is your pie, and you paid for it, and you can throw it away if you want to. Get over yourselves, you have been discussing people leaving early for years. It has no effect, people will continue to leave when they damn well please! This is America, not China. It is still a free country.

Leaving out the qualifier "only" - which is just silly under any reasonable reading of the situation - during what golden era of Tiger Stadium are you contending this was not the case?

My section in the NEZ is awesome, it is always loud and rowdy in my opinion. Never have anyway tell me to sit down or chill out because all the people around me are doing just the same.

Just to provide an outside perspective, this is not a phenomenon unique to LSU. Even 12-0 Florida has had its fair share of games this year, where the fans were quiet or left early.

Personally, that's just not my thing. There were probably only 45,000 people still in the Swamp for the last 5 minutes of the Vanderbilt game this year. Didn't matter to me, I was standings and screaming until the clock hit 0:00.

The bottom line is that isn't the norm anymore, anywhere. It's the entire culture we live in, has nothing to do with Tiger stadium, Les Miles or LSU fans.

Pisses you guys off when you see it in Tiger Stadium, just like it pisses me off in the Swamp. Realistically, though, there's just nothing we can do about it.

Dude it's a state law. Many of the game marshals are smokers as well, most will tell you they don't like enforcing the rule, but they have no choice. There are unfortunately those FEW marshals that let it go to their heads, and get on a power trip.
