can anyone produce evidence that we have ever worn "old gold?" i have talked to my dad (and grandfather...99 yrs old! ) and they both concur that lsu has never worn "old gold" in their presence. they have been to many games. if anything, back in the old days, the "gold" was just a bit darker (less shiny?) than what we have now. the closest thing in a paint store that you can find to our color of gold is 'GOLDenrod yellow' yes, i know our gold is basically yellow, but that has been the way it is for a long time. maybe we wore "old gold" when y.a. tittle was the coach? also, don't forget why our colors are purple and gold. (mardi gras, shortage of green ribbons in new orleans ages ago...look it up) and for the most part, the 'mardi gras gold' of recent memory (on flags, shirts, etc) is not old gold. also, does it seem that the gold that the band wears is a little darker/more rich than the gold on our uniforms?
