I've been following LSU since the early 1970s, and I too was accustomed to 3-4 loss seasons being considered successful. But as much as I hate to admit it, Saban changed my mindset. His comments about getting rid of our "catastrophe syndrome" and awakening the "sleeping giant", then going out and actually doing it raised the bar of success.

Up until very recently, I actually had the mindset that we could and should win every game. I'd come to believe that LSU was truely an elite program able to compete on an even keel with any program in the nation. That's obviously not the case now. Maybe we can get back there, but we've definitely slipped back a notch or two. And in the SEC, that's all it takes to become a second tier team.

Saban had ONE season with fewer than 3 losses. 20%...
