Let's say for a minute that Les was really saying Toliver was down and not calling for a quick spike (I have trouble with this). Why would a head coach be more concerned with a possession call than getting his next play in? He has no control over that call and if it would have been ruled a fumble (which it clearly wasn't) then the clock is already stopped and it automatically goes to a booth review.

Simply put, the man should have had his special teams unit on the sideline with their helmets strapped and ready to go coming out of the timeout. He should have been in the deep snapper's ear letting him know to snap it on the ref's whistle and imploring his unit to line up correctly. I really believe people are grasping at straws because of the camera angle showing the Ole Miss player with the ball. There are other assistants clearly making the spike motion. This is a tough pill to swallow. He will not escape blame from this Tiger fan.

I'm fully on board with this assessment.

Really? So SEC refs havent been a problem for LSU, ever? They rule Ole Miss possession, game over.

And if they review it, GUESS WHAT? TIME STOPS!!!

Or at least be signaling a play to his QB as they ran down the field. In that split second after the catch someone had to make a call. I guess nobody did?

What timeout? If we had a timeout we wouldn't even be discussing this!

Because the fricking head coach is going to change the ruling on the field

Les Miles has no power in determining that decision. If they do rule Ole Miss ball it would have AUTOMATICALLY gone to a booth review and we would have gotten the ball with a free timeout. Did I mention that the ref immediately stopped the clock and signaled first down for LSU? Again, my man, you are simply grasping at straws with this argument.

lol, so you think the refs are going to look over to Les Miles for clarification before they make a ruling?

The timeout before the fourth down play! It should have been automatic that the special teams unit is down on that side of the field strapped up and ready. There were 9 seconds left meaning that if for some reason you get the first down and not get to the end zone you immediately run your fg unit on during the stoppage in play for the first down. This is not a difficult concept.

Well, using that same logic no ruling had been made so use your precious little time elsewhere...although I'm pretty sure by that team the officials had signaled catch and first down

Did I call you a liar yet, cause you are. No signal from any camera angle came until after the Ole Miss player STOOD UP WITH THE BALL. One to two seconds after Miles was yelling.

My proof? TT came down with :03 on the clock, yet the clock didnt stop until :01. The ref ran to the play with the stop clock signal, looked at another ref, then signaled 1st down. Which means Miles had been yelling at least 2 seconds or more before the signal. Heres two camera angles, showing no 1st down signal, until after all players are on their feet.
