Horrible radio broadcast

To begin with, I'm just as disappointed w/ yesterday's loss as everyone else here. Having said that, I was even more disappointed w/ the quality of the radio broadcast. Prior to yesterday, it'd been a few years since I listened to an LSU radio broadcast of an LSU football. Because of circumstances, the only way I could follow the 4th quarter was on the radio. It was horrible! Jim Hawthorne very rarely got correct the yardage gained/lost on the play, spots of the ball on the field, yards needed for firt down, etc. I found myself listening for the PA in the background to get the correct info. He very rarely described the play or what happened. Instead he filled the air w/ vague exclamations (fill in the blank w/: "Oh my goodness, Can you believe that, I can't believe it, Oh my....") On the onside kick, I don't believe he even announced the ball had been kicked; all of a sudden he was announcing LSU had the ball. In addition, it's embarassing how he and Doug Moreau argue after every play. On the failed 2 point conversion, he went on about the ball being thrown "5 yards out of bounds," while Moreau was saying it was catchable. Like a bunch of other guys, I've made fun of the tv announcers, but now I think I owe the tv guys an apology. As I mentioned, it's been a long time since I listened to a radio broadcast of an LSU football game. Did Hawthorne have a "bad day at the office" last night (as can happen to anyone every now and then), or was last night's broadcast typical? If it's typical, we really deserve better than that.

I also had to listen to the last few minutes on the radio and it was embarassingly bad. There was dead air every play and Hawthorne couldn't get out of his own way to explain what was happening.
On top of that he stepped all over his color guy everytime he talked.
Awful.

And I would rather listen to them than the CBS crew

Moreau is pretty good, but Hawthorne is terrible.

Contraryman, Did you listen to the radio broadcast?

Yes, that is very typical. You would think by now he would be able to get the player's names correct, but not going to happen. I had to listen to the North Texas game last year and when Derry Beckwith got hurt Hawthorne said it was Chase Pittman twice. I mean not only did he get the numbers mixed up (94 &48), but hell Pittman graduated the year before that. I honestly do not how he got that job, not saying I could do better, but that is not my career either.

You were probably better off than listening to all the new players Vern was introducing on TV(CBS) for LSU..it was hilarious to say the least...

Yeah, I remember him calling referring to Jefferson as Peterson at least twice.
