It seems rather unexceptional when you look at the 8 teams they've beaten and the performances against them. Auburn was really the only time I've seen any real coherence on offense, and even that wasn't just spectacular.

I don't disagree with that. I think everyone agrees that we have not dominated some of the games we think we should have dominated, based on talent differences, etc.

But you have to be reasonable and look at the circumstances. LSU's offense is unimpressive at least in part because of the tactical decisions Miles/Crowton have made to protect Jefferson from the possible train wreck that Lee was thrown into last year. Every defensive coach we go against knows and anticipates this. They stack the box to stop the run, cover the short and intermediate routes and dare LSU to go vertical. Right or wrong, Miles/Crowton apparently don't believe Jefferson is yet ready to accept that challenge.

So we go with limited offense and rely on our improved defense to make fewer points stand up. The result is that LSU is winning, but not with the style everyone wants. So Les Miles is a bad coach. Of course, if he cut loose on the offense and let Jefferson air it out more, with results similar to Jarret Lee's last year, Les Miles would be a bad coach for not learning from his mistake!

In any event, LSU fans need to judge Les Miles by what he has accomplished over a period of time, not just this self-destructive "what have you done for me lately" approach.
