And I can't think of anything more important than protecting you from that "let down" feeling. God forbid you should have to experience diappointment at any time in your life. If an SEC championship every year is what you need to be happy, we should fire any coach who fails to deliver, no matter what the circumstances.

I am not old enough to fully remember the "bad" years with Curly and Dinardo, but it has absolutely nothing at all to do with what happens now.

The names may change, but the human element remains the same. Change isn't always for the better, as some Obama voters may now be starting to suspect. LSU fans hounded Charlie McClendon, LSU's winningest coach, for his conservative offense and inability to beat Bear Bryant/Alabama. The "better" coaches that they were absolutely sure would jump at the chance to coach LSU didn't come along for many years. In the meantime, we had Stovall, Hallman, DiNardo, et al. and about 20 years of misery.

Just because we had bad years, and loved the fact that we even got to play in a bowl, does not mean we have to settle for mediocrity now.

No, we don't. But you do not seem to have a working understanding of the word "mediocrity". It means "average" or "unexceptional". LSU's current record of 8-2 is hardly average. Les Miles' overall record, which includes last year's 8-5 record (his worst), is 50-16 with an SEC and National Championship and 4-0 record in bowl games. Mediocrity? You need to have a serious talk with yourself.

It seems rather unexceptional when you look at the 8 teams they've beaten and the performances against them. Auburn was really the only time I've seen any real coherence on offense, and even that wasn't just spectacular.
