I would rate Meyer and Saban as probably the top two coaches because they win consistently and have built down programs in the SEC. Saban has revitalized two down SEC programs in the last decade and brought one a national title and may do the same with the other. Meyer is within view of his third national title and coaches in the SEC. The fact that this is performed in the SEC makes them greater in my mind.
I would put Carrol and Tressel on a lower rung due to conference and the losses they seem to have every year. I may even place Tressel above Carroll. I am not too sure Carroll could have the success he has had outside of Los Angelas...he is a perfect fit in that environment.
Brown is not, and has not been, all that impressive to me. Brown and Stoops are similar to me. Stoops is suffering from really bad luck this year with his top two players being out most of the season. I would probably place Stoops above Brown. I think Brown is perhaps on a par or a touch better than Miles.

WOW. Just wow. According to this there are perhaps two worthy college coaches in the country. For the record, Saban has 1 NC, Meyer has two (and for the record, inherited good talent), Miles has one, Stoops has 1 and 3 other NC appearances and Brown has 1. These men have coached the teams that have been the elite programs for the last 8-10 years.
My guess is that you would rate Bear Bryant as average because he only won SEC Championships in 13 of his 25 seasons.

Okay, one last question...sorry...
If Miles is such a great and respected talent in the coaching ranks, why is he never mentioned (aside from Michigan) for other coaching positions in college or the NFL?
