he SEC signed a 15-year 2+ BILLION, yes with a "B" tv contract with espn. A major network paying that much money want to make sure they get
their money's worth and the sec beating themselves up withing and not winning their 4th national championship in a row doesn't live up to espn's expectations. Ensuring a clash of undefeated teams in the sec championship game, and an undefeated representative takes away the chance of a lesser conference going to the championship game and gives the sec 2 BCS teams.
Since bama has the greatest tradition and uf a great recent tradition with, of course, the face of college football timmy tebow, those are the
teams the sec/espn partnership feels can best market their product.
LSU finds themselves in an interesting position, a top-notch program that plays both teams will give the 2 representatives a marquee win against a top-10 team. This has become seemingly necessary with texas looking to go undefeated with minimal competition and a group of other teams such as TCU, Cincinnati and Boise st undefeated in BCS conferences, the stakes are too high to take the chance of not having an undefeated team win the sec.
Further clouding the waters is the fact that the sec office is in Birmingham, AL and it is unknown where the referees are from. In the big picture, this looks good for the sec to have 3 great teams in the top-10, but with the fines, eye-gouging and horrible officiating, the cat is out of the bad and the sec is looking more like wrasslin than
competition between scholar-athletes.
This is not an accusation, but the circumstances have passed the threshold of reasonable doubt.
