re: Who do you blame for RS not being "ready?"

Ever occur to you that Barkley is on the field cause they have nobody else AND he just happens to have handled it very well under fire while our coaches have not had to throw RS in that situation so we don't know how he would respond. It could have nothing to do with how the coaches have gotten either of them ready, just different circumstances.
To try and put it a bit more simply, if JJ and JL sustained injuries and Miles was forced to play RS as a starter, he may perform as well or even better than Barkley. It's not a fair comparison.

i think the rs / matt barkley is a good comparison for this reason. i understand the argument that pete carrol was forced to play matt barkley and therefore he HAD to be ready, but the fact remains that rs is arguably the most talented player on our team and when you have someone with that kind of talent you find a way to get them in the game, even if they're a true freshman. no, we don't HAVE to play rs, but we also don't HAVE to play lafell, tolliver, charles scott, or any of the other studs we have on our team. it doesn't matter if he didn't start practicing until august, the coaches should still find a way to get him ready, even if it's for qb draws every single play.

I disagree. I think if he were a reciever or linebacker or something like that then maybe but not at QB. A D-1 offense is highly complex and not only does he have to learn the offense but he has to learn what every defense is going to do and it is different each weekend. It takes time to develop a QB. Just my opinion.

Well, his 5 TDs to 3 INTs certainly back that up! One of the best ever!

In the Vandy game, which was the 2nd of the year. Shep went in at qb, ran for 8-9 got flipped. Next play he lines up at wide receiver and catches a pass. Has he forgotten these plays after the hits. Point is , if takes Les's word than he has forgot more plays this year than he has learned.

ya know...your reading comprehension is really weak, I said those other coaches would have red-shirted Shepard. I'm sure Miles would have loved to have done that for Shepard...but then the delusional rantards like you would have had a meltdown cause Miles at 47-12 doesn't have a clue. do the world a favor and grow up.

a true freshman can contribute in the SEC if you play to his strenghs and if he has proper coaching. Landry played a lot as a true freshman (didn't he start some games)
you guys always forget to mention Randle who should be catching passes instead of running wind sprints during the game.

i blame you and other fans like you. miles said one of the problems is that they have worked him out at qb, rb and wr. for a true freshman to try to learn all three has gotta be tough. i think they bit off more than they can chew. i'm not sure anyone could grasp all 3 of those positions in such a short time. seems like our vision of how to use him was over ambitious and now looks like it was under ambitious.
