So, during the Yankee v Angel game a play was made at second in which the shortstop took a throw from the second baseman and turned two. The guy at second was called safe. After a replay it was clear that the shortstop never came close with either foot to touching the base on his initial catch or after the pivot. The rest of the game Buck said that it would be a shame for the Angels to lose on that call. Why? If you don't touch a base, it isn't an out. And yes, I know the whole phantom in the neighborhood bull. But are you telling me that an umpire should fel bad like he blew a game for ruling the guy safe when the base was clearly never touched. I say Buck is a moron.

Can't be worse than Verne's "isn't that an incompletion" call today.

That was one of the dumber and funnier things I've ever heard, lol.

Vern must be getting old. I heard that one and thought WTF. The dude ran 50 yards with the ball.

He also makes stupid calls like when one was clearly incomplete and he says "intercepted!" Then he sees the replay and is like "oh maybe it was incomplete."

Yea.

He NEVER seems to know whether a ball is caught or dropped, and there's a big pause for like 5 seconds before he figures it out. Every damn time, lol.

Joe Buck is right - umpires NEVER call that.

Also his line about "remember kids, always use 4 hands to catch the ball" was epic.

I'm a Joe Buck hater but he was great tonight.

I understand that they never call it. But 1) that is when they are close to the bag and 2) that doesn't make it right. He could have said you don't usually see that called and then acknowledged the guy missed the base and then moved on. But no. He had to keep acting like the angels were getting screwed out of the game. All the guy had to do was touch the base which McCarver said he did every other double play of the night.
