To HomesickLadyTiger:
The problems with the offense right now are all a result of Les Miles being "involved" in the offense. He wants to play Big-10 run twice, throw once then punt to get good field position football rather than play "score lots of points" football that Crowton enjoys. Les Miles needs to get out of the way and let Crowton do his job.

Speculation at this point. It's a rare game where a defensive HC doesn't go with a gut feeling in circumventing a given defensive play call/set; ditto with offensive HCs, just like Miles' play call change based on his zoned in QB late in the UGA game for the go ahead TD run by Chuck Scott. But, then, when JJ made the request, he'd already led one come from behind drive to retake the lead and CLM made a decision to go with his young QBs instinct for his own reasons we aren't privy to.

It's what HC's do. If they get it right more than wrong, they have a very long tenure. If they get it wrong on the whole more often than not, they don't. They are painfully aware of these facts at major 1A programs.

They don't enjoy the luxury of speculative presuppositions like we fans do on the Rant. Hey, it's what makes the Rant the Rant, right?

i think you have hit the nail on the head. miles is the problem with the do-or-die run the ball mindset. just look at the running backs we use. with the exception of trindon ,all big and relatively slow. with our line unable to move people off the line of scrimmage our moving van backs are useless.we have a # 1 recruit who is a spread offense qb, ran it for 3 years in high school, and he can't see the field because he just dosen't fit the profile of a power running game qb. literally too much speed i suppose. this refusal on miles part to consider a change is not very smart, especially since jordan jefferson has digressed this season to the point he looks clueless. we're going to look even worse if auburn beats us. they have no defense, but will score even against our defense. i don't think the game plan should be structured for a 3-0 win. sooner or later the heat is going to really come about this pitiful offense. somebody is going to have to take the handoff. wonder who it will be ? in answer to the what could you offer question, let shep run the spread for a series or heaven forbid, even 2 series, and see what will happen. just something else defensive co-ordinators have to deal with and plan on seeing. come on miles. swallow your stupidass pride, and give it a try
