Hey Tiger Fans.

Gator fan here, coming to my first game in Baton Rouge next week. Hoping for a good clean game, may the best team win.

I also want some tips and pointers on things to do and see while I'm here. I'm staying in New Orleans, but plan on driving in early on Saturday for the complete gameday experience.

I definitely want to see Tiger Mike, but I'm not sure where to find him, or if you can only get to him after gaining entry to the stadium. I'm also interested in some of the local spots to eat, drink, gather, tailgate around the stadium during the day.

Any help or advice you can provide would be appreciated. I don't mind taking a little stick, if I can get some good information along with it.

Thanks in advance.

First of all he is not Tiger Mike, He is Mike the Tiger, and he is located right outside of the north part of the stadium.

I suggest a couple things, get to campus early, like before 10am. Bring a cooler of beer, like a case and if anyone gets unruley with you offer them beer, then you will have friends for life in purple and gold.

You guys are good, don't wear your attitude, and talk with people, don't walk around looking like you own the place, party with Tigers after the game, Mike the Tiger is at the North end of the stadium.

If you guys roll us, be humble, our fans may start thinking we are invincable, so a lopsided win may be ugly after the game.

Mike's habitat is directly across the street from the north-east side of Tiger Stadium next to the big white Dome looking building known as the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Just walk around campus, take in a little Tiger Baiting and be a good sport, and you will find all the food your heart desires.

Allways stop by Chimes on Highland before the game...it will be packed, so get there early. If you walk around campus, there are tailgates set up for miles in each direction, so you'll find someone who'll offer you a beer and some food. They'll also have a TV set up so you can catch the scores.

My guess is that College Game Day will be there, so finding a place to park within 3 miles of campus will be impossible unless you're there before 8 or 9 AM.

Ask someone to direct you to the stadium and you'll find all the things you need to see around there. You can see the stadium or the Dome next to the stadium from most places around the campus, but if you're under a tree you might not see them.

Get there early to see the Band march down the hill...see Mike the Tiger there also.

If you can, find someone who's a TAF member and see if they let you go inside the Dome to hear the band play before the game...it's free for them to get you in so don't worry.

Just have fun but try to avoid the Piss Balloons if you are sitting in the lower bowl of the stadium...

Are you looking for restaurants to eat at in Baton Rouge or New Orleans? Or both?

Coming from NOLA, get off at Dalrymple exit, take a right onto Dalrymple nd head into campus. Stop off at Chimes and the Varsity at the north end of Campus (on Highland road) and walk down Chimes street where there are a few bars and restaurants. Check out the tailgating around the parade ground area, the Indian Mounds, etc. Take the walk down Stadium Drive and see the Tiger band and players walk down a couple of hours before the game. Mike the Tiger habitat is right down the hill and right north of Tiger Stadium.

There should be lots of good food and likely lots of gator cooking for this weekend. It'll be high energy and lots of fun. You may get some Tiger Baits , but just give them a cheers. As someone mentioned, bring some extra beer or drink-- that never hurts.

Have a good time

LSU - Stadium Area

This should give you a good idea of where the tiger habitat is, in relation to the other sports landmarks. Your best opportunity to see Mike is to get there Friday night and go to the habitat. Saturday will be crazy and the vet students end up tranquilizing him for the move to the stadium.

Regarding tailgating---- memorize this:

"Mmm, that smells _GOOD_. What is it? Hey, would you like a beer?"

(as someone else already posted, have a shoulder-cooler or something with beer you can offer.)

Smile when you're tigerbaited, and say "Yeah, I'm looking forward to a great contest."

and

"Boy do I hate 'Bama."

You will run across some idjits, but you will also run across 100 times that many good people who will enjoy talking football with you.

Get super arse drunk by 5:00pm. Pass out exactly at back door of old Hodges dorm just east of stadium. Leave your 4 tickets in shirt pocket (tucked neatly into your pocket protector). Wake up with terible hangover at 11:00pm and realize that me and 3 friends had a hell of time watching the game at your expense.... Got it?

Olde Tyme. We tailgate at the corner of Nicholson and Burbank. Look for the white Tailgatin Tigers trailer. We will have multiple Gaytors at our tailgate so if you would like to try some fried Louisiana shrimp and fish and a multitude of other dishes stop by, The more the merrier!!

Wear your gator gear, and walk around the campus with the right attitude. Its FOOTBALL, not life, and we love friendly rivalry type talk...tiger bait will be heard many times, but feel free to stop by the tailgating spots and grab a bite to eat. I've been to Florida to see ya'll play us and had a blast......you won't experience a better time than at Tiger Stadium.

The best way to get the full experience is to ask the Vet. School to let you into Mike's habitat so you can pet him. He loves people to pet him.

Other than that, spend the night in New Orleans if you want to go there but Baton Rouge is still better on Friday night and if you stay in N.O. you better get to campus really early or you may end up not being able to get into campus by car because they close it off pretty early. Expect about 150K on campus tailgating.
