Watching the reds and cardinal lastnight got me thinking about how dumb some of these unwritten rules are. Last night Stubbs stole second while the Reds were up six runs. Smoltz became agitated and Dusty proceeded to throw up three fingers letting him know it was only the third inning.

Do you think it was a bullshite move on Stubbs part or should the Cards realize that its only the 3rd inning and they have one of the most explosive lineups in the game?

Some of the 'unwritten rules' have some merit... not in this case, though.

I'm with you on this. Did you how Duncan was claiming that Bronson was using pine tar last night and that the clubhouse didn't rub any of the cards balls down?

frick Duncan. He's pissed cause the Reds might have the best rotation in baseball next year and are owning the cards right now.

See, the one 'unwritten rule' that has the most merit... is if you're gonna be a jackass and hit someone on purpose, keep it below the hands.

what I don't understand in baseball is that it's okay to hit a batter with a 90 mph fastball on purpose.

I don't understand why defenses choose to use "defensive indifference." Why not try and get that out right then and there?

I brought this up in the SLRT last night. Smoltz was just pissed because he couldn't get a grip on the ball in the cold weather and he was getting lit up.

And again, Stubbs can fricking fly. Brennamen last night said it's the fastest Reds player he's ever seen, and that included Deion Sanders.

Major League umps will toss any balls that are not rubbed to their liking.

Hes a football fan. You know the sport where you get a personal foul if you shake the opposing QB's hand

Because it is the smart play, ex. if the winning run is on 3rd and there are two outs who cares if the runner on 1st steals second.
