ESPN: LSU Overrated
Posted on 9/28/09 at 4:04 pm

From ESPN's Chris Low:
quote:
Overrated until proven otherwise: LSU and Ole Miss are both overrated. There’s no other way to say it. The difference between the two teams is that LSU is overrated and still unbeaten. Ole Miss is overrated and coming off a loss in its SEC opener. LSU coach Les Miles called the Tigers “vulnerable” following their 30-26 escape at Mississippi State, and he’s right. I’d go as far as to say they’re very beatable unless they find their running game and start playing with more consistency in all areas.

People need to realize that Miss State is very, very underrated and that winning on the road in the SEC is ALWAYS tough.

And what does he think about Boise State?

ESPN hates LSU.
Had to be the 1st.
Had to be the 1st.

Did Low intend for this to be earth shattering or controversial?
Low = Captain obvious.
Low = Captain obvious.

All true and all the fault of the media.
Afterall...you can't be OVER RATED unless you're being rated. The media wouldn't be happy unless they were doing Top 20 polls after the season, during the spring, preseason, etc. LSU is ranked where they are BECAUSE of the press' desire to create these stupid fricking polls'.
Honestly at this point of the season, there seems to be three dominant teams (Florida, BAMA and Texas) and everyone else. LSU is in the everyone else catagory right now, but their potential and the fact that they have clearly not played anywhere near their potential gives them tons of room for improvement. They are ranked #4 right now because the press knows no other way of ranking teams than to rank them in preseason and basically automatically move teams up if they don;t lose and others lose in front of them.
Listening to memebers of the press bitch about their own system is kinda' funny...

Yeah. Can't argue too much with that POV right now until the Tigers show what they can do against the upcomming higher level competition.
But, of course when you say this:
You could be talking about just about any team in the country right now. Florida was the notable exception but with Tebow's concussion even they are in doubt (and heck, they lost a game last year if I remember right). Bama is a nice and shiny football team that looks impressive. But I definitely wouldn't say they're unbeatable. Saban can drop one when you don't quite expect it. And there a a coupld of teams in the Big 12 that can jump up and hand Texas a lost.

I'm waiting on someone from ESPN to say we have national title written all over us. We are, after all, ranked such a meaningful 4th in the country.
Posted on 9/28/09 at 5:56 pm to GABlueDog
I think we are overrated but if we keep imprving we still can reach the promise land!

those guys are always on LSU's case, but until Les and Co. develops that killer instinct and start kicking arse, it will always be this way.
