Why not take away his airtime and give me more game analysis that actual helps.
Because their goal is not to help, it's to entertain and get people to watch. And Lou succeeds in that. I don't mind him, but I do think he is tarnishing his legacy a bit. A lot of people--especially the younger ones--only think of him now as this clown character he plays, rather than one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. His legacy to tarnish, though.

The sad thing is, if he would just shut up about how Notre Dame is going to make it to the NC game or go undefeated every year, he really isn't that bad. He is somewhat comical, but he does have knowledge of college football. Maybe the network can fine him every time he mentions ND and make it more pleasant to watch.

He is by no means "one of the greatest college football coaches of all time."
He won one national title, which just so happened to be at the most prominent school in the sport. He came close to winning a second in 1993.
But in addition to that, he put four schools on probation, and walked away from a long contract at Notre Dame for "undisclosed" reasons. He ended his career by putting South Carolina on probation.
Holtz was a cheater. He cheated at every place he coached. He just never got caught at Notre Dame.
Screw Lou Holtz.
