I am pleased that Jefferson played within himself and didn't try to win the game all by himself. It's too early to don him the next great of all time, if for no other reason than he hasn't had time to really prove himself just yet, but the guy's got talent, I think that's clear. The only real concern I had the other night was over his wreckless abandonment when it came to running the ball. While I admire his toughness, he is our QB, and we can ill afford for him to get hurt right now this early in the season, or even later. I think if I have any real criticism of him at this point it would be that he needs to perhaps put a little more on his backs in those option plays and take a little more attention to his own health. Other than that, I thought he did a pretty good job, and am still very hopeful in his abilities and other intangibles he brings.

I am pleased. He was given a very conservative game plan and executed it, while protecting the ball.
It seems to me that they are trying to get this kid some confidence... a lesson that should be learned from what happened last year.
My guess is that Les and Co. knew we could win this game by playing very conservatively and by not making stupid mistakes--while at the same time letting JJ get his legs under him.
Next week they will open it up a little more... incremental progression, so they'll be ready for the big games.
I'm more worried about the defense than JJ; he's the guy we need. Good manager, good decision maker (so far).
