10. conservative offensive scheme/playcalling

Check out the play-by play of the game, Slow. The first three offensive series, we ran 7 plays up the middle for a total of 12 yards and one fumble.

KW ran MUCH more effectively up the middle than Scott did. FACT. But don't say that on the Rant. If we're not trying to smash people in the mouth over and over on offense, rather than using our advantages (speed), we might as well be a Pac-10 team. Right?

It's because we are not running the I. CS did much better with a really good fullback plowing the road for him. I went back and re-watched most of the game and UW had no fewer than 7 men in the box every 1st and 2nd down play. Without the fullback, the numbers aren't in your favor going directly up the middle.

KW's run up the middle on the last drive came after running the option outside and spreading the D out a little. I think we will see a lot more variety in the running game against SEC competition. We will have to have an effective run game against better competition.

All this is to say that KW may be the better option at tailback this year if this is the style offense we are going to use. He can get through a smaller hole and has a lot more speed. He is also a lot more versatile, since he is a better bet to get to the corner when we run the option. If we are constantly rotating him and CS, the D will be able to read exactly what we are doing.
