Anybody remember the UL-M game in 2003? Sloppy. We were completely flat. Even the D sucked in the first half. It was 24-7 in the 4th at home. UL-M Was TERRIBLE. This was a Saban team. They became National Freakin Champions. Nobody remembers that game now (except me) because of the Arizona game that followed.

Go off what you see next week. The Vandy game will tell you what you need to know.

I bet AP voters did when they awarded USC their trophy that yr. If the Huskies have a losing yr, voters will remember this game.

Apparently not you.

For one half, in a driving rain.

We might have been a little bit flat in the first half due to the lightning delay for half an hour, but the D didn't suck at any point in that game.

No, it wasn't. UL-M didn't score until the 4th quarter, when we already led 42-0. We ended up winning 49-7.

Maybe, but they weren't coming off an 0-12 season. Washington might not be an 0-12 team this year, but they will be lucky to win three Pac Ten games or six games overall.

Yes, the Arizona game. A road game against a bad Pac Ten team in which we did NOT struggle, give up nearly 500 yards and not tackle worth a shite. A game we won by 40+ points, which is what a championship caliber team does when it plays a shitty opponent.

You have no way of knowing this. In 1999, we stunk in the first game, a sloppy 29-21 win over San Jose State. The next week, we looked much better blowing out North Texas 52-7 (or 52-0?). We lost our next 8 games and Gerry DiNardo got fired. That year, the first week was a MUCH better indication than the second week of the quality of our team. The second week is no magical crystal ball. It can be as misleading as any other week.
