Nope. It's more like sleet. But really it's more like Sonic Ice. Maybe if one of these Huskers has been around Astoria OR they may know what I'm talking about. But I don't think they have Sonics up there so the point may be moot.

I live in Idaho and the same sort of ice pellets occur here too. It may be technically hail but hail here is usually softer, like snow pellets. It won't hurt when it hits you. It usually occurs in the spring so I doubt we'll see too much of this. The freezing level in the atmosphere is much lower here than in Louisiana, thus more frozen precip can fall even when its warmer. Rain here is like drizzle in Louisiana. It rarely thunders and will likely be light showers.
