Whale Wars shenanigans and Discovery

Just had an epiphany about the 'accidental ramming' incident last week. We've been played by Discovery.
Facts
- His boat isn't as fast as the harpoon ships; admitted this over and over
- helicopter pilot took off knowing something was going to happen which would result in his helicopter being damanged or lost at sea
- Paul Wilson has a long history of ramming other ships
"Story" as told by Discovery animations and crew of Steve Irwin in 'sound bytes':
- going to try to cut between harpoon ship and main ship to 'cut the line' for the whale (see first 'fact' above)
- animation showed how this was supposed to happen
- animations obviously had to have been created long after the incident which happened in March and the footage was released by Australian feds
- crew 'interviews'? taken during the crisis..or filmed long after the incident.
Given all the evidence above, its clear to me dickwad captain never had any intention of severing teh whale line. Clearly the harpoon ship moves past him like he's standing still and gets into positino to transfer the whale so how the hell could he think he would be able to thread that needle?
The way his ship nudged into the harpoon ship (under almost full power) and his gleeful look as he rammed it..showed that was his only intention all along. There was no plan to sever the whale line.
The fact Discovery channel propoganda-generating machine went to work creating the illusion this was the plan and going so far as to create actual animations is disgraceful and takes manipulating people to a whole new level.

I was hoping to see that boat load o' hippies slowly sink to the bottom.

Severing the line is no more legal than ramming the whalers, but yeah, you only have to look at the goofy, delighted expression on his face to realize that ramming was the "plan" all along.
I think the whalers would be well within their rights to start shooting if the Sea Shepherd gets too close in the future.

exactly, only ramming the ship could lead to loss of life if one or both sink in the frigid antarctic oceans

i would LOVE to see them get stronger water cannons..and shoot the acid-throwing hippies right off the deck into the water with their ship still a half mile away

i, in no way, dispute what you're saying about the capt's final plan but i just want to point out a few things:
true, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the NM and the NM3 would be traveling at full speed diring the transfer (i'd assume they'd rather be stopped but that obviously wasn't going to happen)
uh, ya think? minutes earlier they came within feet of getting hit when they cut off the NM. that dude (in my opinion) is a paid employee and he didn't want to get hurt of get and he knew the potential of what could happen.
agreed
i think that discovery was only going with what they were told the plan was.
see above
again, this was a documentary and they were only telling the story. i don't think they were there to judge. and if they were, don't you think they would have shown the sea shepards in a better light than the idiots that they are?
these were obviously filmed after becuase they didn't prepare then stop and interview then proceed. and again, these people though at the time and still do think that they did the right thing.
again, i disagee with this... there's nothing that they did that made them look good in the situation. and again, i'm not saying that plan #1 in the capt's head wasn't "RAM"...
and one more thing... IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN FIND A NISHIN MURU CREW SHIRT LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!

The whole show is propaganda for the Hippies. Notice they only interview the young good looking people except the idiot Captain and 1st mate. Every now and then you see an old guy or a fat ugly chick in the background but they never interview them.
They have obviously staged cheers when they think they actually accomplished something. Like fouling a prop which always turns out to be a huge failure.
They harp on the fact that they are over matched, but they are still stopping whaling. Notice they never mention they need more money just more equipment. An obvious ploy to get more donations.
Discovery is just trying to make a good show, which they have. I think it's hilarious the lies the Hippies tell and their complete incompetence. I'm sure some morons empathize with the hippies because they don't see through the hippies BS.

That's just typical liberal superficiality, one of their many glaring hypocrisies.

And they aren't. The whaling continues right in front of their faces.

That's why I watch the show - to laugh at their stoner incompetence. But the thing that makes me mad is the typical liberal tactic of attacking someone and then trying to play the victim when that someone retaliates.

When I said they say they are stopping whaling, I mean't of course that that's a lie. I just didn't say that.
I couldn't agree more. Such colossal hypocrites.

This is just like when on the Deadlist Catch, they planne a guy to fall in the water an the ship with all the rednecks saved him. It is all bull shite....

so you're mad at the hippies…. Not
discovery.

all good points. of course its entertainment..i imagine this has the most ratings of any show on AP..ever. but really..do we give discovery a pass on 'helping to tell the story' with voice-overs and animations when its obviously fraudulent after-the-fact-oh-shite-we-might-be-going-to-jail revisionism?

It's a longtime liberal tactic. They attack someone and claim to be victims when that someone defends him/herself. A perfect example would be the 1968 Chicago Democratic National Convention, in which Jerry Rubin, et al started fights with police and filmed the police response, claiming the cops were using "gestapo-like tactics."
You first saw it on this show last season when they jumped aboard the whaler and then whined about how their crewmen were "kidnapped." Now, when they try to throw things at the whalers, they suddenly become "victims" when the whalers throw things back or use their non-lethal deterrants. shite, Capt. Kool-Aid is now claiming that the whalers rammed HIM, not the other way around.
It isn't exclusive to the SS morons and I don't think Discovery Communications has anything to do with it.

fwiw, i'm going to check out "SWORDS" since whale wars is over because it looks like another boat show with a bunch of jackasses who dont know what they're doing.

you would be correct. Show is pretty unwatchable though IMO

Swords is terrible, and I think the hooking the fish in the eye will be it's demise, that and some terrible captains.
Whale Wars is the best non-comedy sitcom on tv. My favorite part is when they do the on cam interviews and their lame senior pranks fail, and they realize that they can't stop the whalers from doing whatever the hell they want. It's awesome. They all say they would give their lives to protect the whales, but they are afraid to hurt their ship.
I wish the NM would have sliced that ship open like a head of lettuce.
Why have they not dropped stuff from the Helicopter? The top of the whale ship isn't netted. Also why not launch the Delta's and have them cut the line or Spoil the whale meat. They're faster than the Steve Irwin.

right. but discovery is showing all parts. they're showing the equivalent of the "fight starting"...
also, the even showed shots from the NM that showed the SE riding up onto the 3...
and Cab, as far as them using the deltas, if one of those things would get in the line of a water cannon, they'd be fish bait (btw, that's my reason, i'm sure they just haven't thought of it yet because more than one has said "i'd give my LIFE for this cause...")
Also, i believe i've read that at one time they did try throwing stuff from the chopper but i guess it didn't work out. my dilemma is that i want to watch season 1 but i don't want to give them money by renting or buying it.
