On an automatic vehicle? Related to another thread.. Just curious.
Eta: recommended is 30k miles but a lot of people never even change it. I was talking to some people today about tranny filters and they were confused because they never knew they were supposed to do that.

I didn't even know I had a transmission filter so the answer would be never.

Supposedly my transmission crapped out because I didn't know about the filter. I suspect it has more to do with the 150k miles it has on it.

I usually change mine out the same time I replace the flux capaciter.

I would think 75k miles would be sufficient on most vehicles unless you do allot of heavy towing.

I change it out about every 50-60K, when I flush the transmission. If your vehicle's over 100K and it hasn't been changed out/tranny hasn't been flushed, let sleeping dogs lie and don't frick with it.

Once a year, I flush my transmission out completely. There is a new system dealers use that hooks up directly to the trans lines, sucks all of the old fluid out, flushes the filter without removal, and reinstalls fresh fluid. It even flushes out the torque converter, something that changing your filter won't do.

The new Tacomas have no dipstick and no way to add fluid. Its good for 90K.

No the transmission fluid is changed by backflushing the whole system via the transmission lines at the transmission cooler.
