Forgive me for not getting it, but can you please explain this point and how "slotting" has anything to do with LSU losing a player who signed for 1.2 million (and another who is reported to be near a high dollar deal)?

Slotting has to do with the certain signing bonus a player can get in each round they were selected. There are restrictions that teams are supposed to follow by the commissiner but have not in the coming year. Just look at the Pirates 6th and 8th round selections and the Padres who spent $750,000 on their 10th round pick. I've never seen this much overspending in one draft.

Colvin in my opinion has one of the top 20 arms in HS this year. If he were to go to college and even has par and subpar years he would be drafted on talent alone higher in the draft.
