Nothing works as well as a good old fashioned check. No wire transfers. No cash up front. No Paypal. No money orders. None of that. Post date the check so that it shouldn't be honored until the date written. This last tip is only my opinion

I was told by a Credit Union rep recently that using checks is also risky. Guess they have access to the bank routing number and your checking number.

got a message form a "steve francis" at stevefrancis98@yahoo.com. Sounds like some of the stuff I'm reading on here. he says:

'i have sec 103 row 29, i have 6 tickets together, i am not a ticket broker, please email your home and cell number with area code to go over details, looking forward to talking"

I kind of don't even want to deal with this...my first time looking for tickets on here.

actually, that's a GREAT tip ... post date the check for two weeks after tix are to be mailed
NOT a good idea. You can deposit postdated checks early. I see it all the time. Dont count on that as an option.

same guy posted on craigslist with tickets for the alabama game at bryant denny, he gets the tickets that have been in his family for forty years, just send your money via paypal or money order, when game time comes around, you have passed the paypal protection period, if you can't look the seller eye to eye, beware

Appreciate all the advice. I can't wait to visit Death Valley, but it looks like getting tickets from the ticket office is not an option (WVU this year).

Purchased tickets from a person on this site using Paypal paying what was asked...after transaction was completed, a few days later I received the following email...

"John just seeing if you want tickets to the McNeese State game as well. Same section and row. These tickets would cost 97 per ticket. I actually wanted face plus TAF fees for those other tickets I sold you but I calculated wrong and charged you 100.00 less than what I paid. I just found the actual prices on lsusports.net. I dont expect you to pay the difference because that is my mistake. But just let me know if you want the mcneese state tickets which is face value plus taf fees. Thanks."

Things went downhill quickly when I asked when tickets had purchased would be shipped and allowing time to validate with LSU ticket office.

Low life scumbag was dealing with.

CRAIGSLIST, read the ads, this scammer is trying to get your money and he even puts the wrong location in the ad
Two Mississippi State vs. LSU Pre-season Tickets at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott - $75 (Baton Rouge)
he has several ads like this on craigslist, if you see one just click on prohibited, it will be flagged for removal, keep the crooks working, if it cost them too much time, they will stop trying to separate LSU fans from their money

I posted a request for LSU tix and got an email and later a call from a guy who wanted me to pay using Western Union. He wanted the deal done immediately. I was not comfortable and bailed on the deal. I am almost sure it was a scam.

I don't understand all of this, just use stubhub or paypal, unless it way in advance over 90, but most people here are buying during season and not in the spring.

Not sure about that one. In 2006 I bought tix to the Bama game but had to sell them. I sold them through Ebay (just like I bought them) 2 months later Pay pal said the transaction was classified a fraud and my account was debited the whole amount. My feedback was positive. An older couple commented they loved the game. Called the lady. She said her credit card co screwed up and disputed every charge for the last 90 days. We both called paypal to clear it up. My account was shut down! She sent me a check with no protections I wouldn't pay her back when it was over. 2 months later paypal credited back my account and unfroze it. I sent her a check and all is good now. I will never sell anything again on EBAY, In my opinion the buyers have plenty protection.
