Had to look that one up! He actually played for a semi-pro team for a couple of years before being drafted (wikipedia).
I think that it happened every now and then in the 60's (maybe 70's?), but don't think that it has happened in the modern era (last 20 years or so)

nah, he was playing in a semi-pro league and working construction when he got drafted, but I think he was out of HS for three years by then. Amobi Okoye graduated from Louisville at like 19 years old and got drafted by the Texans, but he had been playing college football since he was 16 so he was physically ready at 19 to play in the NFL.
