Best player LSU and Pro is the Pistol for sure. Winning a championship does not automatically make you a good player.
Shaq never won a championship until he paired with Kobe and Wade.
Pistol averaged an alot of points in college and pros and he was a guard in a period without a three point line. Imagine how many points a game Kobe would average without the three. Maybe reduce his average by 10 points?
Tough to say. Perhaps Pete's total dominance at LSU is enough to outweigh Shaq's pro career. The guy is the NBA's 5th all time leading scorer behind Kareem, Malone, Jordan, and Chamberlain. That is pretty strong.

Well, looking at the pro careers...It may be appropriate to thrown in Bob Petit.
Points per game is what I would equate to a good NBA career:
Petit > #7 all time 26.3ppg
Shaq > #13 all time 24.7ppg
Pistol > #17 all time 24.2ppg
LINK
Petit = 2 MVP
Shaq = 1 MVP
Pistol = 0 MVP
Petit = 1 championships
Shaq = 4 championships
Pistol = 0 championships
I think that Pistol Pete's pro career was hindered by the number of games that he played along with the fact that he was not on a championship team. It should not hinder the fact that he was one of the best baseketball players ever. Had he played longer and been on a better team he may have been thought of as a better all-time player. And again with the three pointer, Pistol Pete may be at the top of the points per game list.
