but don't you think the small town feel of an "event" in Geauxmaha perpetuates the small appeal of the event?

there is no shortage of people or excitement in the city of Omaha when the CWS is taking place, i can tell you that

I think it would lose appeal due to the loss of the mystique that Omaha has.

no, not at all. Again, it's the lack of major network coverage of the rest of the season holding back the CWS.

Augusta, GA is a small town and the small town feel is even promoted....and the Masters does just fine. Same with other major golf tourneys. Difference? Golf is on national TV/Espn all year.

Not really. Although I've never been, it seems like the whole town gets behind it. Stick the thing in LA, and nobody there would give a crap, plus say it was in Dodger Stadium, exactly how much tv excitement would it generate seeing 10,000 - 15,000 people and 40,000 empty seats? Plus Omaha is a fairly central location, so it would seem that would make it better for the actual fans to travel to.
