Bizarre Game Play from Arkansas and Virginia

In just the last inning, we have seen a batter for Virginia strikout while trying to switch hit for the first time, and seen Arkansas try to bunt on the leadoff batter.
Are they really trying not to have to play the tigers?

This inning, players appear to "lose the ball in the lights" in the infield, and the other pitcher throws the easy out in the dirt from 30 feet away...after the bunter sends a horrible bunt straight at the pitcher.

I think he was saying that this YEAR was the first time he tried switch hitting. I don't think tonight was the first time he ever tried to switch hit.
