#2 by June 2008.........People who say stars are not important because we have had one 2 star go pro in the last 30 years are retarded......Stars matter....Just look at the top 5 programs in the nation and that proves it. Chemistry is important too of course and being the right fit for the team but if you take a team of 2-3 stars and a team of 4-5 stars.....80-90% of the time the team with the most stars is going to kick some arse.......not 100% but 80-90%. I would much rather be on the 80-90% group. Otherwise you will be classified as a Utah or Air Force team.

star players are very important. they make big plays in big games.

this makes those stars into champions...
USCw always gets the big names and they have one MNC to show. one that they won on pure talent.
it is unrealistic to think that any team can do this year in and year out. case in point, USCw. all that talent but cant beat stanford.
in every class you need program builders. guys that lead by example. they dont have the talent but have the work ethic that rubs off on the super stars and makes them great.
these are the guys that keep the team together in tough times. these guys are often more important than the big names.

Or you could just do what most top teams(including LSU) do and get a bunch of 4 stars, a couple 5 stars and some gritty 3 stars with good potential.
I can guarantee a team like that will kick some arse 80-90% of the time as well.
