Stan Verrett joined ESPNEWS, ESPN’s 24-hour sports news television network, as an anchor in September 2000. Verrett now anchors SportsCenter, ESPN’s flagship and Sports Emmy award-winning studio program, in addition to hosting Friday Night Fights and NBA Fastbreak.
Prior to ESPN, Verrett worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WDSU-TV, an NBC affiliate station, in New Orleans, La. At WDSU-TV, Verett reported on a variety of events including the Sugar Bowl.
Verrett’s career includes serving as sports anchor and reporter in Norfolk, Va., with the city’s ABC affiliate station WVEC-TV and WAVY-TV, the NBC affiliate station. He was also a top-rated morning show personality at several radio stations in Washington, D.C., Charleston, S.C. and Norfolk.
Verrett is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he was selected as one of the two outstanding graduates in journalism for 1989.
