Alot of your higher end places do the team approach. I can't remember which place it was, but I remember once I had the "top" waiter come and read the specials, take the order, then take the wine order and that was the last I saw of him. I guess they figure the #2 and #3 person can deliver food and keep drinks full.

The waiter is in charge...he will take your order offer suggestions advise about the wines...he wont fill your water glass deliver the food or brush up crumbs...but he will check back with you and make sure everything is right and you are happy...at Stella's he was there when they brought the order out and made sure of the food placement and that everything was to our request....he would check back often but not too often....Just right.
