He was not standing just like the entire arena; that's why the people on either side of him were not touched. He also was not watching the court, but was looking back into the stands, which is (presumably) why he stepped in front of Davis in the first place.

I keep watching the video, and I keep seeing Davis running up the sideline in front of the crowd until this kid steps out in front of him. When Davis ran around behind the ref, none of the fans sitting there were in the way. When he took his first two steps up the sideline, none of the fans there were in the way. Then all of a sudden there is this kid stepping out towards the court, looking back towards the seats instead of where he was going, and right in front of Davis. What part of that suggests that Davis should apologize other than the fact that he is a 6'9" 250+# millionaire sports celebrity who will be harshly criticized no matter what he does and thus will be expected to apologize for everything?

Should A-Rod apologize to everyone who has to move out of the way of one of his home runs? Should Randy Johnson apologize to the bird? Should Kevin Moen apologize to Gary Tyrrell?
