Kareem wanted to get into acting. He had won a championship in Milwaukee and was in his prime. Had to be monetary.

Then again, NBA trades don't make sense. there's rarely an equal for equal.

look at the trade the lakers made to get the #1 pick in the 79 draft (Magic Johnson for Gail Goodrich and reserves).

Or the Celtics #2 pick in 86 (Len Bias for Gerald Henderson)

We've seen it in recent years with Gasol for Kwame(?)

Goodrich was traded in '76 - 3 years before the Magic draft

Henderson was traded in '84 - 2 years before the Bias draft
