so he died at the age of 40. and his last words less than a minute of his heart failure were "i feel great".

was he saying this to comfort his family? or was it just that ironic?

Pages 9/34 and 10/34 of Acrobat's navigation. If you are looking at the book's pages, it's the Forward - pgs. ix, x and ix.

He had been shooting hoops with Dr. James Dobson and they had just taken a break as I recall.

I think he meant what he said, then it hit him like a ton of bricks.

There's an excellent documentary about Pete narrated by Harry Connick, Jr. It's been a while since I've seen it. If you ever get a chance to see it, it's worth the hour.

It's called "Pistol Pete: The Life and Times of Pete Maravich". It aired on ESPN a few years ago I believe.

My stepson is doing a living biography on him. So cool to see him excited about reading about Pete.

FWIW, when an athelete of Pete's caliber says that they feel great after any kind of a game of round ball ... wven with the physical activity and the pumping heart from the floor experience, this usually makes one say 'they feel great'... Pete was the BEST

he died playing a pick up charity type basketball game in california. He was actually playing with a guy who was a doctor. I read the story and grew up watching pete play. IMO the greatest display of basketball skills that we will ever see and may not see again.

+1

i think Petes old cach did research and watched video on him and said that if Pete had a three point line, he would have average something like 59 points per game.

rediculous.
