Ok 33 ***** last year and 12 ***** this year. don't remember but did 2009 start out this way and Rivals gradually add more ***** as season progressed and more time for evals? otherwise what's up with such a huge difference in numbers?

Yeah, they add more as they go. Think they had around 15 last year. Davenport and Loston werent even 5 stars initially.

Seems like Rivals added more 5* in the fall.

once the camp circuit ramps up and more evals come in, you'll see more 5*'s, and a shift in rankings and such.

Exactly. They don't like to take a star away from players, so they just start out with a small number of players that they have a lot of confidence in.

Am I missing something here? Heaps not even in the Top100?

No, not at all. The kid had a great sophomore season and basically got hyped up but never improved. He isn't getting better and is just over talked about now. Rivals released a good video today showing all of the other qb's ahead of him. (Don't know if it is private or not. LINK ) It has been known for a while that he wouldn't be high on rivals.

Rivals said that because this is so early they are going to start conservative and allow kids to move up with new evaluations/videos/camps.

I actually like this ranking list and think it is a pretty good one. They didn't give in to the hype around a lot of players, although I'm sure a lot of the guys missing will jump up once more video is available.
