No.. apparently an Army captain stationed in Germany was experimenting with ways to lift weights without hindering athletic ability (speed in particular). He hooked up with a Swiss company that started to make a steroid called Dianabol.

This Army guy was from Louisiana and introduced a "weight training" regiment to the LSU 1958 national championship team before the season.

And to respond to "Who cares?" ... Obviously a lot of people. They typically don't run stories on OTL if there isn't a large public interest. But nice try.
