You do realize tt in 2001 the program was in year three of draconian NCAA sanctions. The previous two years the official visits were cut in half and they were unable to sign more than 5 players. The loss of Stromile Swift to the NBA was also devestating. Then the team lost starters Brad Bridgewater and Lamont Roland to season ending knee injuries and played the SEC schedule with only five scholarship players.
The fact this team was even in the game to theend against the defending NCAA runnersup was a huge accomplishment.
The 2002 season was one of Brady's best coaching jobs. Despite it's depleted roster the team was competitive in nearly every game then would noticeably hit the wall at about the 35 minute mark.
