Furniss easily

dude had so much more power, you can claim that it was the bats but he still has the records

don't take away what he did because of a NCAA rule (or lack thereof)

at least it was legal, some records exist that were (arguably) achieved illegally

i.e. barry bonds+steriods, he still broke the record though

Walker is the better hitter. Joey Belle was pretty good too. If Larson would have played at least three years, we'd be talking about him as well.

You have to take it into account when u talk about guys from 2 different "eras"

Im not taking anything away from him. His numbers were great too. He hold a lot of records. But he compiled them over 4 years and with the loaded bats.

Walker was better though . Only here 3 years. Was a 2 time all american.

Both were great. Im not taking anything away from Furniss.

The question wasn't "who is the best power hitter?", and you can't always look at career records in baseball because the best players are rarely around long enough to hold them.

Furniss was obviously a better power hitter, but Walker was one of the best pure hitters the college game has ever seen. He had at least 100 hits in each of his 3 years and his career avg is .396. Furniss' career avg is .371. And to compare the power eras just a little,Walker even slugged over .700 for his career but the highest the team slugged during that time was .511. I can't find Furniss' slug pct, but the team was .492 his freshman year then .558, .607, and .570 his soph-senior years.
