I might have to rewatch this Brotherhood of the Wolf, I must be missing something. From what I remember, it was terrible.

seen and highly recommend:
das boot
downfall
lives of others
goodbye lenin
perros amores
city of god
7 samurai
rashomon
life is beautiful

sucked:
amelie

good, bad, and the ugly and once upon a time in the west are all official foreign films, but that's probably not what you meant.

Great recommendations. $100 says you're from Bogotá or Medellín.

I'm going to Netflix some of your suggestions.

Once Were Warriors is a foreign film right?

Loved that movie.

It's a New Zealand film, yes. I suppose I was sticking to movies that weren't in English. There are movies filmed abroad like PU-239, but I didn't know if they warranted a mention since they could have just as well been filmed in the states.

Some really good recommnedations on the list.

I thought Y Tu Mama Tambien was a little overrated - or maybe I just didn't get the subtler meanings. I did enjoy it, just not as much as some others.

Amelie is a cute movie. Whoever said it sucked is being too harsh.

Das Boot is great. So is Seven Samurai.

A few others I liked:

Raise the Red Lantern -

Like Water for Chocolate

Diva

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (perhaps too obvious?)

yep Bogota.

some others:
Sumas y Restas - Medellin cartel (kinda shitty movie)
Paraiso travel - immigrants make their way to NY from Colombia
El Rey - story about a trafficker
Sonar no cuesta nada - colombian movie about paramilitaries finding cash
Perder es cuestion de metodo - movie about corruption in Bogota

I added a bunch of your suggestions to my Netflix que, I was surprised to have not heard of some of them.

I've got buddies from Bogota, Medellin, Cali and Baranquilla.
