Well we beat Auburn to but sucked out of conference in '88 which kept us out of the Sugar Bowl. We still had the technical conference title tiebreaker.

And Syracuse used to be good. So there's no need to emphasize them.

There's no need to hate on Archer, he's been gone almost 20 years. And he wasn't the worst to come through here.

Forgive me, but Syracuse was a very good team the year before. I think their QB finished in the top two or three in the Heisman voting. But the 1988 Syracuse team wasn't all that.

And my intent was not to hate on Archer...just pointing out something with the benefit of hindsight. It's not his fault for taking the job.

Remember, LSU's 1988 OOC schedule included Texas A&M, Ohio State and Miami, all legit top 15 teams at the time. Also, the Tigers' win against Auburn that year likely cost Auburn a shot at the NC.

As far as Wendell's concerned, I thought that I'd read somewhere that his wife is an attorney. Wasn't he involved in a lawsuit over his career ending injury and did anything ever come of that?
