good player for cap space isn't rape

now the hornets fricked it all up by signing peja, but that's unrelated

the grizzlies are in a great position right now for next year and 09/10

Well the thing was, the Hornets already had plenty of cap space. After trading Mashburn, the only player with a semi-big salary was Magloire and we dumped him too.

The Hornets got worked by the Warriors a few years back. Baron Davis for Speedy Claxton and cap space

Hornets made out better in the long run IMO

That's hindsight, at the time we were left with Speedy Claxton and cap space that we really didn't need that much for our franchise player.

the context of the Laker trade was worse because of what the Lakers already were.

They were on the fringe of being real good, and they added a skilled 7 footer to put them over the top.

Well I guess looking at the big picture, mgmt felt it was time to blow it all up.

Getting rid of Baron Davis is good for a franchise IMO

It's been difficult to watch the Hornets since they fired Paul Silas for NO good reason, that was a dumb move.

peja
Seemed like a good sign at the time because the system needs 3-point shooters to stretch defenses. But now that you've got Mo Pete and Posey, they can shoot the 3 AND do other stuff as well.

It makes Peja less valuable.

I'd give up him and his inflated contract for someone who maybe doesn't shoot the 3 quite as well but makes up for it in athleticism and rebounding.
