From what I remember visiting family in Lafayette, it’s an alright place if you want a big-town feel while not feeling super-crowded. The traffic is absolutely horrid because the infrastructure wasn’t made to handle the amount of people that live there now.

River Ranch is probably the nicest area but real estate there is pretty expensive. A lot of upper-middle class retirees live there. It’s definitely one of the wealthiest zip codes in Louisiana along with Uptown, Gardens District, Mandeville, etc. That says a lot considering there aren’t many wealthy zip codes in Louisiana.

How much did the Lafayette Travel Bureau "contribute" for this?

Lafayette is too trashy and dangerous for my tastes.

We are in trouble.

I mean where do you live?
It's really not all that bad here. Sure, opportunity is limited to a few fields but there's stuff to do here and damn sure a better spot to raise a family than anywhere near NOLA or EBR.

If I had to live in a city larger than 50,000 in LA it would be Lafayette. BTW, Ruston is terrible and no housing available. Don’t even look.

I could not imagine if given the option between living in Lakeview and Lafayette someone would pick Lafayette

Not particularly close? Based on what? At the very least it’s a 1A 1B situation where there’s a big gap until the #2Yall are ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me see...could it be based on my humble opinion? Hmm........

What does Lafayette offer for entertainment? I remember the downtown college bars but I admit it’s been a while since ive been there

Top Golf, Dave & Busters, Festival International, Mardi Gras, Cajun dome concerts. Lafayette gets some big acts that skip BR and Nola.

Then there’s reds. That’s a world of its own. Downtown has college bars but also has plenty for the older aged people.

if work/commuting is not a factor, it's not close imo. mandeville 10/10 times.

obviously that's a huge "if".

I know 3 families who moved out of Lakeview over the last 3 years specifically because of repeated property crimes. Not that Lafayette is much better.

This is pretty much my arguement. Mandeville has some festivals and Mardi Gras like every other LA city, a few bars on the lake front and up in Covington but not much as far as entertainment goes after that. However, if you’re choosing a place to live I think proximity to other places should factor in. Idk both cities are fine to raise a family in.

No its terrible. Nobody should want to live here. Move along.

Just a heads up that most places in this country should want people moving there.

I don’t think there’s been a run on Lafayette.
