Majority of business related phone calls are a waste of time

And the issue could much more easily be resolved with a text or an email.
This is specifically for needing information. Not for understanding something more in depth or complicated concepts. I text or email certain people, and they insist on responding with a phone call, that drones on for 10-15 minutes filled with umm, soo, ahh, yea, etc and repeating themselves over and over. When all I needed is something that could have been answered in a 10 word text.

Are you getting paid? It’s a job. Answer the phone!

What's tomorrow looking like for you around 2:00pm? Please send me a calendar invite and we can discuss this on a Teams call, which is of course completely unnecessary since the answer to your question is in the email I just sent you earlier this morning which you clearly did not read or were unable to comprehend or are too afraid to take action upon because you need your hand held like a Gen Z baby for every task assigned to you.

I hate that. Only thing worse is someone who sent you an email and then follows up with a phone call that goes, "I just sent you an email....."
If you send an email, I believe it should be responded to by email. That's what I want anyway.
The exception would be if you send some information that requires a period of review and then a possible discussion. THAT should be stated in the email.

Calls, agreed.
Teams called with shared screen, disagree, and honestly take less time than emails half the time.

I guess people just dont want to interact with one another anymore on a personal level.
This should help the future of the country for sure.

They're not a waste of time, but I definitely appreciate the correspondence chain that a phone call cannot provide.

In this same vein, during a work week I have to:
1. Fill out my client updates within a google sheet that our department shares.
2. Have a meeting with my direct boss and hers to go over said updates.
3. On Thursday afternoons send my client weekly updates to my direct boss so that she can send them to her's.
The corporate world is either filled with idiots or people that do shite just to look busy.

I get it alot from directors and sr managers who get 1000 emails a day and don't necessarily read them all. If you need their attention on something, you have to reach out and get their attention. Likewise, when they need something, it's usually time sensitive and they want your direct attention instead of hoping you see their email.
And sometimes, the discussion isn't something either party wants to put in writing in an email.
