The problem is not hate speech but actionable hate speech.

Theres a big difference between saying "Free Palestine" and "We are going to erase you, your family, and your culture from your lands like we did on October 7th".

The Hamas supporters at these universities don't know the difference nor do their financial backers care.

There is the rub — determining what constitutes “hate speech” and an actual threat of violence. Many have argued that chanting “From the River to the Sea!” is a veiled threat of genocide against Jewish people.

These claims ignore the fact that this phrase has also been used by Israeli politicians to define the territorial sovereignty of Israel. Indeed, the original charter of the Likud Party states: “…between the sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.”

It is worse than that: as discussed recently on this forum, it appears some of these useful college-age tools have no idea exactly what or who they are protesting. And we further have documented proof that radical progressive organizations — if not terror front groups — are funding these supposed “organic” protests.

Just to be clear, in no way should my criticism of Abbott be read as an endorsement of these nefarious entities. The concern here is that any attempt to criminalize “hate” speech — whether by the left or right — can and will be used to quell genuine political opposition to the agenda of the permanent bipartisan reigning regime in Washington D.C.
