I was not a fan of this at all but after hearing the GM on an interview it makes perfect sense
He said a stat that was very alarming to me
He said that between week 9 and above, at any given time during the 2nd half of the season, 30% of starting QBs in the league did not play games. That number is just crazy to me.
In other words, he basically said that they do not expect cousins to start every game this upcoming season Due to injury

Investing in QB2 is a smart strategy. Investing in QB2 with the 8th pick and the 4th best QB in the draft isn’t.

Which makes his contract even more idiotic.
Of you are the GM do you pay that money to a guy who you don’t think will play a full season? Not unless you are stupid.
