This. Americans have a huge problem with wants vs. needs. Social media has ramped this up x1000.
For example, the "housing crisis" is not really a thing, imo. People just want to start off where their parents are now. First-time home buyers "need" solid counters and hardwood floors.
Point being, we have "keeping up with the Joneses" on steroids coupled with a pitiful education in finances. Something our schools do very poorly.
