You can make an argument with the advancements in technology it makes it easier for people to isolate themselves. Back in the late 1800s to early 1900s the newer immigrants had to partake in their communities because all they could do with people in their home country was send letters which obviously took a long time.
Now they can use the internet to communicate with their home country and friends immediately. Stops them having to conform.
