There isn’t much. In fact, if you’re using history as a guide, diversity is almost always rather detrimental to society. The Austro-Hungarian Empire and Roman Empire are prime examples of diversity weakening societies and making them more susceptible to collapse. Yugoslavia is another prime example of the dangers of a non-homogeneous society.

Really the only example of a diverse society working is the US from around the mid-19th to early 20th centuries. But what’s different about the US is that those who immigrated here assimilated to American society, taking on aspects of American culture and blending it with their own. This is where the term “great melting pot” came about. And it was very successful. It was helped that for the most part they came from societies that shared a common Christian foundation.

Where things have gone wrong is immigrants are no longer encouraged to assimilate, and come from cultures that have little to no shared commonality. They no longer want to come here and become “American”, instead they want their culture to come here and replace ours. The result is our country is becoming Balkanized.
